Finding Inspiration

Sheri Here,

What do you do to find inspiration?

When you want to be in your creative mode and it feels like an empty tank, where do you go to fill it?

When You’re Stuck

I’ve been stuck this week with that dilemma. I love writing this weekly newsletter. But this week, I was stopped, with no words flowing and I needed to find a way to prime the pump.

One of the new things that I’ve been doing for the last six weeks is going to the gym regularly. For me, that’s every other day, at some point during the day. Those of you who know me, know that I’ve said I dislike anything resembling exercise. So, for me to even say “I’m going to the gym” is one of those “did I just say that?” sorta statements.

But I decided I’d take my empty creative tank and go lift weights for a bit, change up the pace and do something different, really different.

My Meditation

The time I spend counting reps is a form of meditation. I’ve found meditation to be part of a conversation with my spiritual guide, my Higher Power.

The conversations are usually prayer, me talking to God, and meditation, me listening.

My experience counting reps was meditation – the listening part.

Before I entered the gym, my prayer was, “Thy Will, not mine, what am I going to write about?”

What I came away with, in addition to feeling more energetic than when I went into the gym, was an idea. Why not talk about how I filled my empty creative tank.

I place a regular reliance on my Higher Power as I go throughout my day and seek guidance on many things in my life. Seeking guidance to live my life in accordance with God’s wishes not mine. Putting my creative inspiration in God’s hands is not any different than anything else I ask guidance on.

Do You Have A Different Way?

Maybe you have a different way of gaining inspiration.

Maybe you have a different way of praying and meditating.

Maybe you are at a crossroads and don’t know which direction to go, and your faith is a little thin right now.

At times like that I find it helpful to talk to someone who understands the empty well. If you are looking for a person to talk to who understands, reach out and let’s chat – here’s the link. If everything is going great and you want to share that, hit reply and share your accomplishment or win!

Until the next time.

Ciao,

Sheri
